Lifeink® 100 and 200 Mixture

Lifeink® 100 can only be printed at 4°C when neutralized, and Lifeink® 200 cannot be UV-crosslinked. But, both can be mixed together to form a collagen bioink that can be easily printed at room temperature, and still be UV-crosslinked. This combination gives you the best of both worlds - easy printability and additional crosslinking.

Lifeink® 100 / 200 Preparation Instructions

  1. Prepare (solubilize and neutralize) required volume of Lifeink® 100 by following the protocol found here.

    • Keep the solution on ice.

  2. Transfer required volume of Lifeink® 200 to a syringe.

  3. Add chilled cells to the Lifeink® 100 neutralized mixture.

  4. Dispense Lifeink® 100/cells into a syringe and remove all air.

  5. Attach the Lifeink® 200 syringe to the Lifeink® 100/cells syringe using a coupler (ensuring no air is in the system).

    • A demonstration video of mixing these syringes without introducing air is found here.

  6. After mixing, print into FRESH.

  7. After printing, melt the FRESH at 37°C, remove the gelatin (replace with warm media) and UV crosslink as desired.

Lifeink® 100/200 Structural Integrity Test

The Lifeink® 100/200 mixture was printed into a scaffold and then evaluated for structural integrity by lifting the scaffold out of the media using a narrow spatula, as demonstrated in the video to the left.
